While our loose collection of creatives has done plenty of website work in the past, it’s been a while since we’ve had the opportunity to do a site from the ground-up. We recently completed just such a job for a start-up pain management clinic serving the Southeastern Iowa and Western Illinois region, and it presented some unique challenges—particularly with regard to SEO (or search engine optimization).

When working with our national clients, SEO is based around the company’s brand—typically, their name. So the approach to SEO focuses on optimizing the placement of their brand name in search results. With Rushmore Pain & Medicine, we wanted to optimize search engine results for people looking for pain care in the immediate region, underserved towns like Burlington, Fairfield, Keokuk, Mt. Pleasant, Muscatine, Wapello, Washington, and Mediapolis in Iowa, and smaller Illinois towns like Carthage, Hamilton, and Nauvoo (cool name, huh?). It was a lot of fun—and quite the learning experience—taking a different approach.

From an image perspective, we wanted to give a sense of what Dr. Jeff Juhl, the founder of the clinic, was all about. I was fortunate enough to shadow him for a day, “making rounds” and visiting patients. The entire time, It was always very apparent that this is a labor of love for Dr. Juhl: He’s seen a need, and wants to bring a high-level of pain management care to the Burlington, Iowa area. I realize it sounds trite, but he really places the patient first.

Needless to say, it was a really positive experience. Check out some of the images in the gallery below. (And yes, that is my lovely wife playing the part of “the patient.”)
